About
01 / The problem
Your edge is knowing what your client needs to know before they do. That means reading every filing and docket that touches each client, every day. You don't have the time. SPEIDER monitors; you interpret.
02 / What we're building
SPEIDER started with one question: what if a lawyer could know everything that matters about every client, every morning, without doing any of the research? We wanted something that knows who the client deals with and what their contracts and regulators expect of them, and filters everything through that before it reaches the lawyer.
We call it a pull. One click gives you a short briefing of only what's worth your attention. If nothing is, we say so.
03 / Where this is going
The same monitoring architecture that powers client monitoring can power drafting, deal diligence, compliance tracking, and a lot of other work that lawyers currently do by hand. We have a long list of problems we want to solve, and we're just getting into it.
The goal isn't to replace lawyers. It's to give them back the hours they spend on parts of the job that don't require a law degree.
04 / How we think about data
We built SPEIDER so it can't keep your documents: an upload is read for its facts and then deleted. Each firm's data is walled off from every other account in the database itself, and none of it is used to train an AI model. Those rules live in the architecture rather than in a policy you have to trust. The full breakdown is on the Security page.
05 / How the writing reads
Everything SPEIDER writes for you, from the briefing to the exported memo, is written under a list of more than 80 banned words and a set of pattern rules, such as no em dashes and no filler transitions. The AI is given those rules every time it writes, and every word on this site is checked against them automatically before it goes live.
SPEIDER's output is shaped for a lawyer to review and send, not rewrite. Most legal AI hands over the model's default voice. We built the editing layer.
06 / The team
Two co-founders. One spent years advising business clients. The other spent years building products. We're based in San Francisco, making the legal tool we wished we'd had.
07 / The name
SPEIDER is the Norwegian word for scout. A scout goes out to find information and brings it back to the people who need it. That's what this product does.
